53rd Weapons Group to conduct Gulf of Mexico test from April 9-11

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE — The 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group at Eglin Air Force Base is scheduled to conduct air and nautical operations in the Gulf of Mexico from April 9 to 11.

Beginning April 9, fighter aircraft will release munitions and military personnel will conduct boat surveillance between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The test will be held within a cleared-range safety area approximately 11.5 miles south of Destin.

A notice will be sent to local mariners prior to the missions, and flyers will be distributed at local marinas. Eglin advises boaters to contact their marina for more information as the test date approaches.
