A British officer's child leans forward to touch a flower on the community wreath at the end of the 2021 Veterans Day Celebration and Remembrance Day event held at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach.

The Veterans Tribute Tower Committee will present its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach on Friday.

The event begins at 11 a.m. and will include guests from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Great Britain as they celebrate Remembrance Day, marking the end of World War I. Guest speaker for the ceremony will be Brig. Gen. Jeffrey T. Geraghty, commander of the 96th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base.

Guests are reminded to bring a small bouquet to place in the Community Wreath during the ceremony and that the reading of the names of the departed will be welcome at the traditional Memorial Day Ceremony in May 2023. Mary Esther Parade

The city of Mary Esther will be holding its annual Veterans Day Parade on Friday with the theme of "Honoring All Who Served."

New this year are activities for children and food trucks, which will be located in front of the old JC Penny building in the Santa Rosa Mall. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. on Page Bacon Road and will travel south on Mary Esther Boulevard and east on Hollywood Boulevard, ending at the southwest entrance to the Santa Rosa Mall.

Col. Allison Black, commander of the 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field will be the Grand Marshal of the parade.

Crestview Parade and Ceremony

Crestview will hold a Veterans Day Parade down the city's Main Street on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial near the Okaloosa County Courthouse at 11 a.m.

HarborWalk ceremony in Destin

HarborWalk Village in Destin will honor veterans from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. There will be a ceremony on the main stage at 4 p.m. The ceremony will include a performance by Reid with Autism Sings, a presentation of colors, speakers, and veteran-owned businesses, honoring veterans and local charities. Following the ceremony at 5 p.m. will be musical entertainment by the Band of Revival.
